This Week in Sleep News, 4.15 - 4.21

SPECIAL  || Recalls, special announcements, breaking news, events, clinical studies

Help pick the winning sleep video! You are invited by the American Sleep Medicine Foundation (ASMF)to help select the "People's Choice" winner of the 2016 ASMF High School Video Contest. The ASMF Award Committee will designate the 1st and 2nd place winners, but the third award winner will be chosen by the general public.

To participate, visit the contest webpage to watch all  five entries. Select the one which you think best tells the story of the importance of sleep. Voters can cast one vote daily through May 5; closing ends that day at 5pm Central Time. Must be at least 13 years old to participate. Visit the ASMF website here to cast your vote.

Clinical sleep study needs volunteers: The Division of Sleep Medicine at Brigham & Women's Hospital needs healthy volunteers to participate in a sleep research study. This clinical study is examining how disrupted sleep patterns and not sleeping enough affect metabolism and brain function.

Volunteers must be ages 55-70 to participate in this clinical research funded by the National Institute on Aging. Only non-smokers and people not on any medications are eligible. Participants have 3-4 screening visits to ensure eligibility.

If eligible, participants will live 37 consecutive days and nights at the state-of-the-art sleep lab within Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston and could receive up to $10,125. For more information, call 617-525-8719 or send an email to Sleepstudy@partners.orgLearn more about the study here.
