The psychological study of dreams and nightmares inspired the birth of modern 
sleep medicine in the mid-20th century.

Though the science behind dream analysis is a completely separate and legitimate realm of sleep science more or less "owned" by the field of psychology.

However, the narratives the mind processes during sleep have a distinct impact on sleep health and behaviors. 

There's never a shortage of interest in the subject.
