WHAT'S HAPPENING: CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS

SPOTLIGHT: CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS

Why we sleep is determined by our need for rest, as determined by our sleep drive, as well as the way we are synchronized with the Earthly patterns of light and dark, rhythms which drive the life force of all living things. When our circadian rhythms fall out of sync, we pay a price for it. Learn about jet lag, early birds and night owls, circadian rhythm disorders, disorders related to shift working, and more.

This week's links were published or updated been 6.1.16 and 8.19.16.

WHAT'S HAPPENING: Chronic Illness and Sleep

Thank you for your patience! SleepyHeadCENTRAL has been extremely busy with related projects and needed to step away from curation for a while. We are back at it again and grateful for your readership and support!

WHAT'S HAPPENING: Chronic Illness and Sleep

Sleep is a full-body process that involves every system in one way or another.

It makes sense, then, that chronic illness and sleep problems can go hand in hand.

Poor sleep can lead to or aggravate preexisting chronic illness, and chronic illness can exacerbate sleep disorders or disrupt sleep, as can medications, treatments, and therapies for chronic illness.

Below you'll find a wide-ranging discussion of illness-related sleep concerns in the news and media dating back to June 1.

If you have sleep troubles, and you also have chronic illness, you may find some interesting connections between the two here.

If you feel like a sleep problem you currently have is aggravating your health in other ways, or vice versa, please consult a physician if you haven't done so already. Often, treating one or the other provides relief for both concerns.

This week's links were published or updated between 6.1.16 and 7.30.16.
